As a new plant parent I tend to buy plants that are easy to care for. In my opinion an easy to care for plant is a plant that is not as fussy with regards to light, temperature and humidity and is not as susceptible to pests. This does not mean that these plants don’t require care or specific conditions, it just means that you are less likely to kill them while you figure out what they need.
Out of experience and I know other plant parents and plant lovers will agree, no two plants are the same. What works for one might not work for the other. I believe this is the same with classing a plant as an easy to care for plant. For example a lot of people recommend Zamioculcas Zamiifolia as an easy care plants and state that they are impossible to kill. But to date the only plant I have killed is a ZZ plant. More on that later.

Here is a list of my least fussy family members and plants that I would recommend:
- Snake Plant (Sansevieria)
- Marble Queen or Neon Pothos (Epipremnum Aureum)
- Dumb Cane (Dieffenbachia)
- Peace Lily (Spathiphyllum)
- Spider Plant (Chlorophytum Comosum)
- Dracaena Lemon Lime
- Monstera Deliciosa
- Haworthia
- Monstera Adansonii
- Maranta Leuconeura

I also asked my followers to share their easy to care for plant picks. This is what they had to say:
Vanessa (@bahnaesa): Hoya Carnosa! Throw some water on it, leave it alone to bask in the sun, and suddenly you’ve got a giant plant.
Morgan (@asmorgasbordofplants): Syngoniums! It was one of my first plants I ever got and has literally been everywhere with me and survives and thrives with little to no attention.
Melody (@sweetandearthyblonde): I really love my Monstera. She started from 4 inches and now she’s 8 inches.
Melissa (@newplant_mom): My Yucca has been super low maintenance. And of course Snake Plants!!!
Jennifer (@give.me.plants): My Spider Plant has been super duper easy to take care of the past few years. It’ll tell me when it needs water and it grows like crazy!
Planty Potter (@theplantypotter): I love my Peperomia Frost! It was my gateway plant for sure. They’re pretty low maintenance and I feel like it’s good for new plant parents because the stiffness (or lack thereof) of the leaf is a helpful indicator of when to water!
Joanna (@exploring_jointly): Christmas Cactus is the easiest plant ever as well as Aloe!
