Meet The Family: Neon Pothos Bright & Rewarding Beginner Plant

Just like my Marble Queen Pothos, I would definitely add my Neon Pothos to my list of favourite plants. This might seem a bit repetitive if you read the post about my Marble Queen Pothos, but I felt the Neon Pothos deserved its own post. Lately though I have been more obsessed with the Neon Pothos, maybe just because of the stunning lime colour on the new leaves. They are definitely a bit underrated!

With my “Meet The Family” series of posts I will be introducing you to my plants and tell you a little bit more about the story behind each plant. I will also attempt to share more about my plant care, and how the plant responds to the conditions in our apartment.

I bought my Neon Pothos from Deep Route Gardening in Cork and it was one of the best plant purchases so far. Just like my Marble Queen she is super easy to care for and is growing like crazy.

A Pothos can survive in lower light conditions, but they do need light to grow. I keep mine in our North facing bedroom windowsill where she gets indirect light. She is one of a handful of plants that did not give a damn that it is Winter. She was popping out a new leaf or two each week. I had to repot her last weekend because she started growing out of her pot and I was pleasantly surprised to see that she has more growth points than I initially thought. This allowed me to reposition the vines so that she wasn’t trailing lopsidedly.

She is planted in my houseplant soil mix that consists of store bought houseplant soil mixed with perlite. At the moment I water her once a week, depending on how dry the soil is. This will depend on the amount of light your Pothos gets as well as the airflow of the room and soil mix used.

Last year I took my first cuttings and luckily propagated successfully. I gifted these cuttings to another plant parent and am currently propagating some more to give away.

This plant has honestly brought me so much joy and I can highly recommend getting either the Neon or Marble Queen Pothos if you are looking for a low maintenance, fast growing plant for your space. They are excellent plants to have if you are an inexperienced plant parent or if you tend to neglect plants a bit.

Do you have a Neon Pothos or do you have any questions regarding their care? I would love to hear from you. If you have any questions, advice or requests for particular topics that you would like me to discuss please feel free to contact me here or pop me a DM on Instagram.
